WATCH: Terrifying Moment Tom Cruise hangs off the side of a plane for his latest daredevil stunt while filming scenes for Mission Impossible
Tom Cruise was seen hanging off the side of a plane for his latest daredevil stunt while filming scenes for Mission Impossible on Monday. The actor, 62, who will return to screens as agent Ethan Hunt next year, clung on to the underside of a yellow Stearman biplane as it flew over Oxfordshire.
He was joined on set by Esai Morales, who plays mysterious terrorist Gabriel in the franchise, as they appeared to grapple in the sky. Esai was seen in the backseat of the plane, with Tom later left hanging onto the side after the aircraft flipped upside down. Tom, who has had his pilot licence since 1994 and owns several aircrafts, was flown by a crew member, wearing all green, suggesting the pilot will be removed from the scene during editing.
He dressed in a brown leather jacket, with a plain white T-shirt layered underneath and protective goggles. The star had previously been filming scenes for the long-awaited sequel Mission Impossible 8 at Longcross Studios. Back in April, Tom was last seen filming just a stone’s throw from Downing Street in London.
Dramatic scenes signalled trouble for the Impossible Missions Force agent Ethan Hunt as the actor was seen kneeling on the road in surrender. Other scenes have been shot across Derbyshire, Surrey and central London at landmarks including the Natural History Museum in Kensington and Westminster Bridge.
The filming of the UK scenes of the eighth instalment of the Mission Impossible franchise initially took place between March and December 2022. Production on the eighth film had originally halted so that the cast could promote Part One, and then the strike began causing further delays.
