The seven Liverpool footballers who have played at Anfield fewer times than Taylor Swift as superstar prepares to perform The Eras Tour concert for three nights on Merseyside
Taylor Swift will have performed at Anfield more times than some Liverpool players by the end of next week. Global superstar Swift will be playing at Liverpool’s famous stadium on June 13, 14 and 15 as part of The Eras Tour.
The hugely popular tour started in March 2023 and is due to run until December this year. Swift will also perform at Wembley Stadium later this month. Michael Reid pointed out on Twitter that some Liverpool players in recent years haven’t made more appearances at Anfield than Swift.
Reid wrote: ‘Taylor Swift will be playing 3 nights at Anfield, which is more than Brad Smith, Damien Plessis, Ádám Bogdán, Rhian Brewster, Daniel Ayala, Harry Wilson, and Arthur Melo made appearances there for #LFC’. Defender Smith came through the youth ranks at Liverpool before leaving in 2016. He made eleven first-team appearances for the Reds, but only two of them came at home.
Plessis was at Liverpool between 2007 and 2010. He also made only two appearances at Anfield. Goalkeeper Bogdan, meanwhile, was a Liverpool player between 2015 and 2019, during which time he featured twice at Anfield, with both of those appearances coming in the League Cup.
Brewster joined Liverpool as a youth player and remained at the club until 2020. He was also only involved in two games at Anfield for Liverpool, although one of those was a Merseyside derby against Everton in the FA Cup, which he featured in as a substitute.
Ayala also signed for Liverpool as an academy player before eventually leaving the club in 2011. Of his five first-team appearances for the club, two came at home.
Youth product Wilson remained at Liverpool until 2022. He featured just once for Liverpool at Anfield, playing against Arsenal in the League Cup in 2020. Arthur Melo, meanwhile, didn’t play at Anfield during his loan spell in the 2022-23 season, with his one appearance for the club coming in an away fixture.
