Taylor Swift’s Dad’s Alleged Assault Case Gets Major Update

After a thorough investigation, Scott Swift, Taylor Swift’s father, has been cleared of assault allegations arising from an alleged altercation in Australia.

The accusations stemmed from an incident following Taylor’s last performance in Sydney, during which an Australian photographer claimed he was punched in the face by her father. The incident reportedly occurred on February 27, coinciding with Taylor’s final performance of the Eras Tour. Following an inquiry launched by the North Shore Police Command, Daily Mail UK reported on Tuesday, March 26, that no further action was deemed necessary.

Ben McDonald is the individual who alleged that Scott approached him at a ferry wharf in Sydney, as he and his daughter exited a luxury yacht at 2:30 a.m. “She got off the boat, she walked towards security guards who were shoving umbrellas in our faces, and then he charged,” Ben claimed to the Daily Mail Australia. He continued: “In 23 years of taking pictures, I have never seen anything like it.”

In response to McDonald’s allegations, Swift’s rep said in a statement to CNN, “Two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water.” In the video acquired by the Daily Mail, Scott and a security guard are clearly seen advising Ben not to touch the umbrella Taylor was using as a shield against the cameras.

Taylor Swift and her team were then seen leaving The Crown Hotel at Barangaroo around 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday after the alleged incident. She left the country to catch her next show in Singapore a few days later. Taylor’s father has been a staple during The Eras Tour — staying by her side for several different shows and locations. Just days before the alleged incident occurred, Scott was seen handing out sandwiches to fans in the middle of a sold-out concert in Sydney.
