The unrest is reportedly caused by an emergency services kerfuffle, resulting in the shutdown of Westfield Road from Gorgie Road to Stevenson Road.
With Taylor Swift set to ignite her UK tour at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh tonight, Westfield Road’s closure couldn’t come at a worse time. The residential street, a mere stone’s throw from the venue, is usually bustling with fans, especially today, as Swifties flock to see their idol. Edinburgh Travel News issued a warning via Twitter: “Due to a Police incident, Westfield Road is currently closed between Gorgie Road and Stevenson Road.”, reports Edinburgh Live.
Lothian Buses also tweeted on Twitter, cautioning passengers that routes one and two are being rerouted. Their official statement reads: “Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Westfield Road and Stevenson Road and are instead diverted via Gorgie Road and Balgreen Road in both directions until further notice.”
The scotland>Police Scotland Edinburgh account also tweeted: “Westfield Road is currently closed following a report of concern for a man at a property, which was reported at 12.55pm today. Officers are at the scene and enquiries to establish the circumstances are ongoing. Drivers and concert-goers are urged to use alternative routes.”
