Taylor Swift has shared with her fans how he managed to keep the secret of including her new album on her Eras Tour setlist without anyone knowing.
The 14-time Grammy winner looks to be on with another hit album with ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, with the album attracting over a billions streams in its first week. It also topped the Billboard 200 chart, selling 2.61 million units, the highest for any album since Adele’s 25 in 2015.
So it’s no surprise that she is bringing her new collection of songs to the live set on the European leg of her tour. The singer, 34, revealed during her second show in Paris on Friday, May 10, that she “started planning this surprise” TTPD chapter of her concert “eight or nine months ago,” ahead of the album’s release in April.
In a video posted on TikTok from the show at the París La Defense Arena in Frances, Swift told her army of supporters: “So Paris is the very first city to ever see the new TTPD chapter of the Eras tour,” prompting cheers from the crowd. “I have to tell you, it has been so rewarding playing it for you because we started planning this surprise for you about eight or nine months ago,” she continued. “And then when we got two months off of the Eras tour, we really didn’t take any time off at all, we just went directly back into rehearsal.”
Given how the pair have dominated headlines since they became official in September 2023, Travis Kelce had to get a mention on TTPD – and he did. While the multiple Grammy winning-singer sang, “It’s true, swear, scout’s honour / You know what you wanted and, boy, you got her”, her backup singers could be seen sitting on makeshift bleachers and performing the dance – a move Swift has joined in on when cheering for him at games.
It’s a nice reward for Kelce, 34, who kept quiet when asked for inside info on Taylor’s album, only admitting that he loved the tracks he had listened to.
