Pat Mahomes and Marquise Brown’s partnership starts soon: this is how they work together to get to know each other
Brown came to the Chiefs on a one-year, $7 million contract.
Patrick Mahomes knows that the foundation of success is preparation. Therefore, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback did not waste a second to start working with receiver Marquise Brown, in search of a third consecutive championship. The arrival of “Hollywood” Brown to the current NFL champions was made official just this Monday, with a one-year, $7 million contract, including a $3 million signing bonus.
As soon as his hiring was confirmed, Brown said he agreed to sign with the Chiefs because of the “winning culture” Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid have created within the team. “Pat was a big part of it, being able to play with Pat, (head) coach (Andy) Reid, a winning culture,” the wide receiver admitted.
Mahomes also did not take long to respond to the hiring, sharing a training session with his new target on the field. In his Instagram Stories, Mahomes shared three snapshots where he can be seen with the former Arizona Cardinal in a gym. The quarterback wore a black tracksuit with red sneakers, and the receiver sported a Chiefs sweatshirt, black shorts, and white sneakers.
In the first image, they both appear smiling side by side. In the second, they are seen in an animated conversation, and in the third, they seem to be already in the middle of their training session. The images do not have captions, but in all of them, Mahomes tagged @primetime_jet, Brown’s username on the platform.
Speaking to ESPN’s SportsCenter, Mahomes assured that Brown’s arrival will revolutionize the Chiefs’ offense. “He just brings a tone of dynamic playmaking ability, and I think just being able to add a guy like that who’s ready to come in and work and be hungry,” said the quarterback.
From that moment, Mahomes warned there would be many practice sessions with the Chiefs’ brand new acquisition: “I’ve already talked to him. Going to be a lot of throwing sessions in our future, and we’re trying to keep this thing rolling.” With three-peat hopes on the line, Mahomes knows he will need to fine-tune all his weapons with near-millimeter precision. That’s why he’s trying to maximize off-season time with extra work for new team members, starting with Brown.
