Meghan Markle and Prince Harry handed olive branch by Royal Family through unexpected link
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s bios on the official Buckingham Palace website may have been made smaller, but one detail could potentially offer the Sussexes an olive branch with the royal family
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been handed a potential olive branch by the Royal Family after their latest website was recognised on the family’s own official site. The Royal Family’s platform has had an overhaul, with the Duke and Duchess’ section being trimmed down. They are now alongside Prince Andrew and insiders insist the smaller mention is in no way a snub
Instead, it’s thought that the inclusion of Harry and Meghan’s own site could work as a potential olive branch for the pair. The initial bios of Harry and Meghan were 2,700 words and Meghan 1,300 words respectively, but they are now just 500 words combined. However, a key sentence now reads: “Information about the current work of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex can be found on their official website: sussex.com.”
The link to their new site, launched last month, comes shortly after the pair were initially removed from the site all together. However, an hour later the new and updated section reappeared. While the Sussexes stepped away from the Royal Family in January of 2020, their detailed bios on the official Buckingham Palace website had remained untouched for over four years up until Monday (March 19).
The first sentence of their new profile explained that they “have stepped back as working members of The Royal Family” and goes on to give brief summaries of both of their most notable lifelong accomplishments. This now means they are now the only married members of the Royal Family that do not have their own individual profiles.
Since stepping away from their royal duties, Harry and Meghan have tried a number of new projects, including major contracts with the likes of Netflix and Spotify. With their Netflix deal in the balance and their Spotify deal axed after just one season of their podcast, Meghan has since launched her own brand, American Riviera Orchid.
A PR expert admits this is a savvy move and could net her in the region of £100million if she fully focuses. Trademark filings for the brand show it would include cookbooks, table linen, serve ware, pans and bakeware, as well as a range of jams, jellies, nut butters and oils PR to the stars Jane Owen told us: “If Meghan puts effort behind her new brand, to make sure it’s beautiful and high quality, and also uses her extensive contacts and her obvious sway with the media, I believe the brand will be a huge success.
“It ‘s a really smart move. Meghan is beautiful, has good taste, and her fans now can buy into a piece of that. A good example to emulate would be Victoria Beckham whose clothing and makeup brand has done exceptionally well, because it’s excellent quality and she works hard at promoting it,” Jane continued. “I would say it could easily surpass Victoria Beckham whose company was estimated to be valued at £50 million in 2022. I would say easily she could make in the £100 million range.”
