‘It’s Been a Really Hard Time’ — Taylor Swift Shares that Her Mother, a Two-Time Breast Cancer Survivor, Has a Brain Tumor…Details
Taylor Swift, who has kept her mother Andrea Swift’s challenging breast cancer journey as private as possible, has now revealed that Andrea has brain tumor.
“While she was going through treatment, they found a brain tumor,” Swift said in an interview with Variety. “And the symptoms of what a person goes through when they have a brain tumor is nothing like what we’ve ever been through with her cancer before. So it’s just been a really hard time for us as a family.”
Swift’s mom was diagnosed twice with breast cancer, first in 2015 and then in 2019. And talking openly about her mom’s diagnoses has been tough for her, Taylor said, primarily because of how close they are.
“Everyone loves their mom; everyone’s got an important mom,” she said in the interview. “But for me, she’s really the guiding force. Almost every decision I make, I talk to her about it first. So obviously it was a really big deal to ever speak about her illness.”
Taylor shared the information while discussing her new Netflix-produced documentary, “Taylor Swift: Miss Americana,” which premieres at the Sundance Film Festival this month.
