Kate Middleton breaks silence with statement on Mother’s Day photo editing confusion

The Princess of Wales’ photo was removed by picture agencies.

Kate Middleton has broken her silence after admitting for the first time she made edits to her Mother’s Day image with her children which sparked mass confusion amongst royal fans. The Princess of Wales has issued an apology after posting an image with her three children on social media on Kensington Palace’s accounts which had been edited, with several mistakes easily spotted.

Addressing the incident, Kate said: “Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C”. The photograph of Kate and her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – was taken by Prince William. It was the first time Kate, 42, had been seen since she went underwent abdominal surgery in January.

Royal sources confirmed the Princess of Wales made “minor adjustments” as they wanted an informal picture of the family together to mark Mother’s Day before the situation spiralled out of control. “The Wales family spent Mother’s Day together and had a wonderful day,” the source added. It comes less than 24 hours after picture agencies, including PA, the Associated Press and Reuters, issued a “kill notice” over the image and asked their clients to remove it from all platforms over claims it had been doctored.

“At closer inspection, it appears that the source has manipulated the image,” AP said. “Clients please be advised that the following story has been killed and should no longer be used.” Eagle-eyed royal fans had earlier claimed that the sleeve of Princess Charlotte’s cardigan did not line up and Kate’s zipper almost mysteriously disappeared.

A caption on the Instagram post, which is still available to view on the platform, read: “Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months. Wishing everyone a Happy Mother’s Day.”
