BREAKING NEWS: Isaiah Buggs arrested: Chiefs player charged with domestic violence and theft: Just weeks before this arrest, Buggs was accused of animal cruelty in Tuscaloosa
Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs has been arrested in Tuscaloosa. According to Tuscaloosa County Jail records, Buggs faces charges of second-degree domestic violence with a burglary designation. The arrest was first reported by Ryan Phillips of Tuscaloosa Patch.
Just weeks before this arrest, Buggs was accused of animal cruelty in Tuscaloosa.
Authorities charged him with second-degree cruelty to dogs or cats after two dogs were found in poor conditions – dirty, cramped, and without food or water – at a property Buggs was renting. Due to $3,000 in unpaid rent, his lease was terminated on April 15th, leading to the issuance of two misdemeanor warrants.
In response to these allegations, Buggs surrendered to Tuscaloosa police and posted bail. His agent, Trey Robinson, claimed the charges were a tactic by local authorities to force Buggs to close his hookah lounge in the city. “Isaiah vehemently denies the truthfulness of the allegations and charges asserted against him today,” Robinson said in a statement. “Under no circumstances does Mr. Buggs condone the mistreatment of any animal. The dogs at issue did not belong to him, and he was unaware they remained at the property in question.
“We believe the City of Tuscaloosa’s decision to file charges today is part of a concerted effort to besmirch Mr. Buggs’ name and reputation as part of an ongoing subversive campaign to force the closure of his local business, Kings Hookah Lounge.” The recent charge against Buggs is for second-degree domestic violence with a burglary designation.
In Alabama, this charge implies that the accused committed third-degree burglary and that the victim is a current or former spouse, parent, child, or someone with whom the defendant shares a child. Other relationships, such as a priest or household member, may also fit this designation. The specifics of Buggs’ case remain unclear at this time.
