Travis Kelce makes impossible retirement claim that Patrick Mahomes would love: Discussed retirement with his brother, Jason
Travis Kelce is not planning to depart from the Kansas City Chiefs anytime soon, despite the inevitability of eventually facing retirement. Assuming he stays healthy, Kelce is expected to remain one of the NFL’s premier playmakers in the upcoming season, continuing to be a key player for the Kansas City Chiefs.
On the latest “New Heights” podcast episode, Jason Kelce reflected on how his life has transformed since retiring from the NFL. “I’m still getting used to it,” Jason said. “It feels weird not going into the building and just the little conversations you have. You’ll realize it, Trav, once it’s gone.”
This conversation led Travis to humorously assert that he will never retire from playing football, even referencing his older brother’s heartfelt retirement speech. “I’m never doing it,” Travis said. “Not after that speech, dude. No, [expletive] that. I don’t want to go through that.”
Kelce’s sentiment is understandable, as stepping away from something so integral to one’s identity is incredibly challenging.
Aged 34, Kelce continues to demonstrate his prowess on the field. His performance in the last postseason highlighted his status as the best tight end in the game, with 32 receptions for 355 yards and three touchdowns over four playoff games.
