Prince Harry’s visit to the UK has been officially confirmed, and fans have rushed to congratulate him – but a statement released by the Invictus Games shows Meghan will not be coming
Prince Harry is visiting the UK in just a few days, it has been confirmed – and fans have all said the same thing in response.
The Duke of Sussex is set to return to the UK next month for a Thanksgiving service to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus games, and will deliver a reading during the service. A statement published on the Invictus Games’ social media accounts today confirmed he would be there – but did not say that Meghan would be attending.
It read: “The Invictus Games Foundation will celebrate 10 years of changing lives and saving lives with a ‘Service of Thanksgiving’ at St Paul’s Cathedral on May 8th. We will be joined by our Patron, Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, actor Damian Lewis and members of the worldwide Invictus Community to mark the occasion.”
Fans of the Sussexes rushed to celebrate his return to his home country, as one person wrote: “I’m so glad Prince Harry will be able to make it. Congratulations on 10 years!”. Another said “So exciting!”, while a different social media user wrote: “Congratulations to all of you especially Prince Harry for working so hard to make this happen. I wish Duchess of Sussex could join you but I am still happy to celebrate all of you.”
King Charles could meanwhile play “peacemaker” between his two feuding sons after his return to royal duties following cancer treatment, an expert has said. Former royal butler Grant Harrold believes Prince Harry will meet Prince William when he comes to the UK – and says their father could hold a vital role in the brothers putting their differences behind them. “It is very likely that Harry and William will see each other next month and anything is possible,” Harrold explained to Sky News Australia, adding: “The King will want the brothers to patch things up so it’s more than likely that he could play peacemaker.”
Since he and Meghan ‘stepped back’ from royal life in 2020, the UK government has maintained that Prince Harry must pay for his own security when he returns to the UK. Special circumstances apply for official royal events, or when accompanying other members of the Royal Family.
