Retired Chiefs Coach Reveals What Taylor Swift Baked for Travis Kelce and the Team During the Season
Andy Reid has revealed which food Taylor Swift baked for her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s teammates in what the Kansas City Chiefs coach described as an effort to “fit in” with the group.
Reid, who recently coached the Chiefs to their second consecutive Super Bowl victory in the Feb. 11 game against the San Francisco 49ers, was asked about the Swift-Kelce romance during an appearance this week on NBC Sports’ PFT Live. Co-hosts Mike Florio and Chris Simms were curious about how the attention focused on the couple impacted the Chiefs after Swift and Kelce took their relationship public.
Reid, who knew Swift and her family before the “Cruel Summer” singer began dating the Chiefs tight end, said he thinks that the way Swift immersed herself in the world of professional football became “a great escape for her.” “She sincerely enjoys the games,” Reid said. He then revealed how Swift forged friendships with Kelce’s teammates when the cameras weren’t focused on her.
“Behind the scenes, to fit in—she didn’t even know she was doing this, I don’t think,” Reid explained. “But she likes to cook, so she made the offensive linemen these homemade Pop-Tarts.” Reid suggested that Swift’s move turned out to be the surefire way to curry favor with the team. “It was over,” Reid said. “She knew right where to go.”
Swift and Kelce’s relationship became public last fall, right as the 2023 NFL season was heating up. Attention on their relationship increased as Swift attended Chiefs games, with cameras during televised games occasionally panning over to her box to show viewers her reactions. Attention on the couple heighten as the Chiefs advanced to the NFL playoffs and ultimately made it to Super Bowl LVIII. When Simms asked if there has ever been a time when Reid thought the Swift effect was “too much,” Reid said he “really didn’t worry about it.” Kelce and Swift both “handled it great,” he added, and “it was never an issue.”
